You may think that planning a destination wedding will require hours and hours of research, but getting to know the area is the best way to ensure all of your decision making is easy and seamless. Here is a list of a few of our favorite beach locations to get married on Maui.
Makena Cove
Makena Cove, also known as the Secret Beach or Secret Cove, is a small stretch of beach that is a real hidden gem. Cut off from the buzzing outside world by residential homes and a rocky veil, this is a perfect spot for intimate and small wedding ceremonies and elopements. Beautiful views of sunsets and Molokini & Kahoolawe on the horizon will create an unforgettable ambiance and will also be perfect for wedding photos.
South Maluaka Beach
South Maluaka Beach in Makena, south of Wailea, is a long stretch of beach that is perfect both for a small wedding ceremony or elopement as well as larger ceremonies. Incredible outer-island views, a delicately laced edge of green foliage and the odd few rocks on the beach add a lovely texture to the beach, which would look perfect in wedding photos. The beach has good parking and adequate facilities, which is convenient for larger weddings.
Mokapu Beach
In front of the Andaz Wailea Hotel lies the Mokapu Beach. This quarter mile long stretch of beach features lava rocks and beautifully swaying palm trees which combined with a striking sunset will look great both in person and wedding photos. The beach can get crowded during the daytime, so later hours are best.
Polo Beach
Sitting in front of the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel, Polo Beach offers a long and wide stretch of gorgeous white-sand beach with natural lava formations, palm trees, sand dunes inland and sunsets that are out of this world. Perfect both for intimate and larger ceremonies Polo Beach has easy access and good facilities.
White Rock Beach
White Rock Beach, also knows as Paulauea Beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches Souh Maui has to offer. It is a nice, wide and uncrowded location, which some consider a hidden gem. The beach is lined with a kiawe forest with a few public access trails strategically located, making parking along the under developed portions of Makena Road easier than most. All in all, this is a gorgeous beach location and offers quite a few unique photo opportunities so you truly cannot go wrong!
Ironwoods Beach
This hidden gem beach is located in the northern portion of West Maui in Kapalua, and due to its position, you won’t find huge crowds of people here. Perfect for the special day! 20-foot lava cliffs border the beach in certain parts, and there is also a beautiful “boardwalk” that connects the beach to the many private residences and condos. What you will also find is a great view of Molokai.
Kapalua Bay
This West Maui Beach is perfect for smaller and more intimate weddings. The crescent-shaped beach with beautiful white sands and calm blue waters is not only a favorite beach altogether, but it has also been favored by couples who want a stunning sunset backdrop in their wedding photos. Should you wish to have a celebration dinner afterward, Merriman’s Kapalua has stairs leading from the beach steps to the restaurant.
